The map service incorporates submarine slides. Slides are presented as polygons in addition to boundaries of the slides. The data has been compiled from several sources, with differing details. The main source for the slides on the Norwegian continental shelf is the Seabed project (Norwegian Deepwater Programme, Seabed project Phase II. Mid-to Late Cenozoic Geomodel of the Mid-Norwegian Continental Margin. Atlas volume (Report no. SP2-02-FS-01R-00003-04); By Fugro Survey Ltd., BGS, NGU). For slides in the other countries, the COSTA project (COSTA - Continental Slope Stability, 2004. Ed. J. Mienert. Marine Geology 213, 1-4, pp. 1-504) is the main source. Minor sources include various scientific publications and the Norwegian MAREANO project. Source information is available through the info button in the map service.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slides (NGU_EMODNET_SS)

The group layer incorporates three sets of submarine slides: 1. Medium scale, well-defined slides mapped by the MAREANO program off northern Norway; 2. Slides defined by various regional mapping programs, including large slides from the European continental margin as well small slides from the Norwegian fjords. The location of the fjord slides, while very accurate, is presented by nonspecific polygons, not by their actual extent, hence they are classified among large scale slides. 3. Burried submarine slides on the European continental margin. Medium to large scale mapping.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slides Burried (NGU_EMODNET_SSB)

Burried submarine slides on the European continental margin. Medium to large scale mapping by various national and regional mapping projects.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slides (Large Scale) (NGU_EMODNET_SS1)

Submarine slides, visible on the seabed. Large scale mapping by various regional and national mapping projects. This layer also contains small slides from the Norwegian fjords. The location of the fjord slides, while very accurate, is presented by nonspecific polygons, not by their actual extent, hence they are classified among large scale slides.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slides (Medium Scale) (NGU_EMODNET_SS2)

Submarine slides, visible on the seabed. Medium to detailed mapping precision.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slide Boundaries (NGU_EMODNET_SS_Boundary)

The group layer incorporates boundaries of three sets of submarine slides: 1. Medium to large scale mapping

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slide Burried Boundaries (NGU_EMODNET_SSB_Boundary)

Boundaries of burried submarine slides on the European continental margin. Medium to large scale mapping by various national and regional mapping projects.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slide Boundaries (Large Scale) (NGU_EMODNET_SS1_Boundary)

Boundaries of submarine slides. Large scale mapping by various regional and national mapping projects. This layer also contains small slides from the Norwegian fjords. The location of the fjord slides, while very accurate, is presented by nonspecific polygons, not by their actual extent, hence they are classified among large scale slides.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slide Boundaries (Medium Scale) (NGU_EMODNET_SS2_Boundary)

Boundaries of submarine slides. Medium to detailed mapping precision.

NGU EMODNET Submarine Slide Names (NGU_EMODNET_SS_Name)

Names of the submarine slides on the Europian continental margin (CM) and in Norwegian fjords (F). For more information about the slides visit www.ngu.no/emodnet/Submarine_slides_CM.html and www.ngu.no/emodnet/Submarine_slides_F.html
