GeothermalAreas in the state of California
GeothermalArea (GeothermalArea)
This layer contains data related to geothermal area outlines for the state of California, obtained by the AASG for the Geothermal Data Project. A field shall contain at least one well capable of producing geothermal resources in commercial quantities. The supervisor shall establish the boundaries by graphically constructing a one-mile square around each well capable of producing geothermal resources in commercial quantities. Each such well shall be at the center of a square. The data table includes general information on the location of the area, land ownership and temperature characterization (low or high temperature). Citations are included in the dataset. The GeothermalAreaURI for a particular area is the cross-referencing link (foreign key) used to associate the feature with additional, web based, information. High temperature areas are displayed using a red strike and light red fill. Low temperature areas are portrayed using an orange fill and dark orange stroke. The original data and metadata can be viewed or downloaded from the USGIN Repository at: http://repository.usgin.org/uri_gin/usgin/dlio/379.
