Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS)

The Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS), part of Environment Canada, handles wildlife matters that are the responsibility of the federal government. These include protection and management of migratory birds, nationally significant habitat and endangered species, as well as work on other wildlife issues of national and international importance. In addition, CWS does research in many fields of wildlife biology.

Environment Canada, Canadian Wildlife Service Protected Areas Database (pa)

The Environment Canada, Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) Protected Areas Database is an ESRI geodatabase containing boundary and bilingual attribute information about Protected Areas managed by the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment Canada. This includes three types of protected areas: Migratory Bird Sanctuaries, National Wildlife Areas, and Marine Wildlife Areas.

npri (NPRI)

The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is Canada's legislated, publicly accessible inventory of pollutant releases (to air, water and land), disposals and transfers for recycling. It is a key resource for: identifying pollution prevention priorities; supporting the assessment and risk management of chemicals, and air quality modelling; helping develop targeted regulations for reducing releases of toxic substances and air pollutants; encouraging actions to reduce the release of pollutants into the environment; and improving public understanding.
