Available map layers (28)

Land and Islands (1)

Polygons that represent the terrestrial boundary British Columbia and the state of Washington. This feature class also has an Island Name field that stores island names. DRA data (Island names) added to Island Name field. Originally from ESRI Maps and Data collection

Ocean (2)

Clipped area based on the Canada/USA layer from ESRI.

International Boundary (3)

Canada/USA international boundary. Data is originally from TRIM and maintained along with other regional boundary data.

Capital Regional District Boundary (4)

Boundary of the Capital Regional District. The eastern and southern boundaries follow the Canadian National boundary.

CRD Land (5)

Regional District Boundary Terrestrial - terrestrial polygons that comprise the Capital Regional Distrct terrestrial boundary.

Lot Boundaries (7)

Integrated legal lot boundaries for all municipalities within the Capital Regional District. Data was sent from each municipality and compiled into the same schema. Data sources include the municipalities within the CRD as well as the CBMS (http://srmwww.gov.bc.ca/bmgs/cbm/index.html) which developed the initial layer for ICIS (www.icisociety.ca).

Street Address (8)

Integrated legal lot boundaries for all municipalities within the Capital Regional District. Data was sent from each municipality and compiled into the same schema. Data sources include the municipalities within the CRD as well as the CBMS (http://srmwww.gov.bc.ca/bmgs/cbm/index.html) which developed the initial layer for ICIS (www.icisociety.ca).

Lakes and Wetlands (10)

Major water bodies on Vancouver Island. Data is from Provincial TRIM data.

Major Rivers outside CRD (11)

Major Rivers on Vancouver Island. Data is from Provincial TRIM data and maintained by Capital Regional District.

Major Rivers inside CRD (12)

Contains the standard TRIM water features and the corrections made by CRD, fall 2002. Not all the corrections were submitted to Geodata BC. The following was compiled from a variety of source including planimetry, shapefile attributes, hard copy, GPS survey and personal communication with reputable local experts. The spatial extent is dependent on areas for which we acquired quality data. Corrections were made for all municipalities except Oak Bay and Victoria, but not for the Juan de Fuca or Gulf Islands Electoral Areas other than Saltspring and Galiano Islands.

Regional Water Supply Area (14)

Data cartographically represents the current administrative boundary for the Regional Water Supply Area, which is owned and managed by the Capital Regional District (Water Services). For cartographic purposes, in the Japan Gulch area the boundary has been adjusted to match with the lot boundaries. This however, does not represent the true boundary.

First Nation Reserves (15)

First Nation Reserve land in the Capital Regional District. Name- name of the reserve DataSource - where the data came from Data Project - - project that spurred creation of data and what the data is based on DataDate - date data was created, downloaded or updated DataSupplier - where the data came from or the base information that was used to create the data. DataAccuracy - relative accuracy of the data based on original creation or based layer Comments - general comments and update notes FirstNationBand - First Nation Band name that owns the reserve SLP_Description - Reference to the Supplementary Letters Patent that describes the First Nation boundary.

Regional and Other Parks (16)

Regional, Federal, Provincial, Municipal, Provincial Ecoreserve, Community Parks and Protected Area in the CRD. Parks and protected areas are defined as: (a) A property explicitly zoned as such in information supplied by the municipality (b) In the case that explicit zoning does not exist, information as provided and/or verified by the municipality or other administrative body. Due to differences in definitions parks and protected areas between different adminstrative areas, this layer is not guranteed to be fully comprehensive or consistant. Layer is updated on a regular basis, but not all areas are guranteed to be up to date.

Roads (18)

The Digital Roads Atlas (DRA) is received monthly via GeoBC/Province of BC. The DRA is a data management system representing a complete and accurate road network of all the roads in British Columbia. The DRA includes a combination of spatial data (such as road geometry) and attribute data (such as surface type and address information). It includes all types of roads, from resource roads to alleyways. The road information is obtained from aerial photos or roads driven with GPS referencing. Roads and intersections are represented geometrically as centrelines and points, respectively. This layer includes the new DRA schema introduced in 2014.
