The National Burned Area Composite (NBAC) is a GIS database and system that calculates the area of forest burned on a national scale for each year since 2004. The data are used to help estimate carbon emissions in Canada. The burned area is determined by evaluating a number of available sources of data, which use different techniques to map any given fire. The system chooses the best available source of data for each burned area and builds a national composite picture. / La Composite nationale des superficies brûlées (CNSB) est un système de base de données du SIG qui calcule la superficie de forêt brûlée à l'échelle du pays pour chaque année depuis 2004. Les données sont utilisées pour aider à estimer les émissions de carbone au Canada. La superficie brûlée est déterminée en évaluant plusieurs sources de données, qui font chacune appel à différentes techniques de cartographie des feux.
