Vegetation Inventory - Whitehorse - 10k (5)
This feature delineates enhanced forest and cover attributes for the Whitehorse, Yukon area at a scale of 1:10,000. The field work for the inventory was carried out during the winter of 2004/2005 with the project delivered by the contractor in October 2005. Delineation was based on 1:10,000 black and white photography acquired by the City of Whitehorse in 2001. New mapping and DTM were available for this project based on that photography. Forest inventory polygons contain a variety of detailed information on, for example, the age and type of trees growing on the land base in the vicinity of Whitehorse.

Vegetation Inventory Field Plots - Whitehorse - 10k (11)
The field plots were used to help during the photo interpretation process. The temporary plots provided essential information to interpreters to relate photo observed attributes with field measurements. The field work for the inventory was carried out during the winter of 2004/2005 with the project delivered by the contractor in October 2005. Delineation was based on 1:10,000 black and white photography acquired by the City of Whitehorse in 2001. New mapping and DTM were available for this project based on that photography.
Vegetation Inventory Roads - 40k (13)
The roads and linear features in this data set were compiled and interpreted in association with the Forest Inventory (1995-2006). It is a representation of various linear features on the land base. The linear features were classified by the interpreters based generally on the NTDB classification system for roads and trails, at that time. When used in conjunction with other road or linear transportation networks, there may be duplication of lines and information.
Vegetation Inventory - 40k (14)
This feature delineates forest and basic vegetation stands in Yukon at a scale of 1:40,000. It is a management level forest inventory (as opposed to an operational level) - meaning that analysis and mapping are most effective close to the 1:40,000 scale and not larger. This inventory has been completed in various stages: delineation from hardcopy black and white photographs took place from 1987 to 2002; while recent data collection has proceeded through a digital (aka 'softcopy') methodology of scanned photographs and digital elevation models.
Non Forested (16)

Vegetation Inventory - 5k - Soil Nutrient Regime (20)
This feature delineates forest and vegetation stands in the Yukon at a scale of 1:5,000. It is an operational level forest inventory (as opposed to a management level). This inventory has been completed in various stages, between 2013 and 2014, and delineation via softcopy from stereo images acquired in the years 2007 and 2012. Theaerialimages used for the Haines Junction region (Champagne and Aishihik Traditional Territory) had a ground sample distance (GSD) of 40 cm and were collected in both color and infrared. Theaerialimagery in the southcentral Yukonwere 1:40,000 black and white hardcopyimages, scanned at 60 microns or approximately 1m GSD.

Forest Openings Pre 1990 (25)
The purpose of this was an attempt to track the past harvest cut blocks in Yukon. It is a representation of the disturbance field of an old archived forest inventory.
Forest Openings (26)
This coverage identifies logged areas (cutblocks, or openings). These areas are mapped by differentially corrected GPS. Attributes include type of harvest, species cut, and retention type.
Forest Health Aerial Overview - 50k (27)
This feature delineates forest health disturbances which includes Abiotic and Biotic forest health agents in the Yukon at a scale of 1:100,000. It is a management level forest health overview survey (as opposed to an operational level) - meaning that analysis and mapping are most effective close to the 1:100,000 scale and not larger. This Forest Health Overview surveys has been completed in various stages: 1 Starting with mapping the distrubance type, and severity from the Air using Fix wing aircraft on to hardcopy 1:100,000 scale maps2 Transfering the Data to a clean Mylar for scanning and digitizing3 Scanning and digitizing and populate data into GIS spatial database
Permanent Sampling Plots (28)
Locations of Forest Management Branch Permanent Sample Plots. The plots are measured every 5 years to compile growth and yield information across the many forest types and regions of the Yukon.
Forest Resource Roads - 50k (30)
Personal Use Fuelwood Areas - 50k (31)
This feature class identifies active areas designated for personal use woodcutting where harvesting dead or downed fuelwood can occur for purposes such as home heating. Certain areas have seasonal restrictions or additional terms and conditions. A forest resources permit is required to cut in these areas; this free permit authorizes a limit of 25m3(11 cords) of firewood. Failure to have a permit or carry it with you when cutting could result in enforcement action.
Timber Harvest Plans - 50k (32)
The purpose of this feature class is to identify those areas that are in the process of Timber Harvest Planning, process being a continuum from proposed plan through to approval and eventually plan expiration. Subsection 20(3) of the Forest Resources Act establishes that an approved Timber Harvest Plan is required prior to the authorization of timber harvesting under a Harvesting Licence or authorization of a Forest Resources Permit for non-commercial timber harvesting in an amount greater than 25m3 per year.A Timber Harvest Plan:• Must be developed in accordance with Sections 5 through 7 of the Forest Resources Regulation. • Identifies forest resources in the area and areas suitable for timber harvesting and establishes objectives for timber harvesting.• Must be consistent with any Forest Resources Management Plan that applies to the same area.
Landscape Management Units - 250k (33)
The purpose of this feature class is to identify the forest resources management zones within a Forest Resources Management Plan, as per subsection 2(h) of the Forest Resources Regulation. These sub-divided smaller forest planning areas or landscape units are based on watershed boundaries and modified by local access and development patterns. They usually contain similar management concerns and forest types. The units form the boundaries for detailed information gathering, monitoring and planning.
Harvest Licences - 50k (34)
The purpose of the Harvest Licence feature is to record areas where a licencee holds a timber resources licence, a woodlot licence or a fuel wood licence.
Forest Resources Management Plans - 250k (35)
The purpose of this feature class is to identify the individual annual allowable cut and annual limit areas as referred to in the Forest Resources Act subsection 20(2) and 31(10 of the Forest Resources Regulation). Where there is no approved Forest Resources Management Plan (FRMP) for an area, forest resources harvesting can only be authorized in an amount less than that prescribed by regulation for that area. The Forest Resources Regulationsubsection 31(1) establishes the annual limits for harvesting timber resources for areas without an FRMP. These areas are referred to as the Annual Limit Regions in Schedule 1 of the Regulation titled Timber Harvesting Areas. These annual limits are set as the annual allowable cut for each of the areas, until such time as a Forest Resources Management Plan is approved for that area.
Cutting Permits - Forest Resource Permit - 50k (36)
Cutting Permits - Issued - 50k (37)
