This record holds part of the bathymetry data collected in 2002 using a multi beam swath mapping sounder, which mapped throughout the lagoon and offshore of Manahiki . Record specifically holds data collected for the nearshore on the ocean side of Manahiki Lagoon. DGPS was used for navigational control and using Hypack surveying software for planning and logging of the sea floor. .Approximately 200 pearl farms/ boundaries was surveyed using a differential Global Positioning System (GPS) of their location and boundaries and individual data of farms tabulated and linked to Map Info using Microsoft Access. Bathymetry data created with a multibeam mapper was also used as reference in producing a rectified image of Manahiki

niue_alofi_2005_bathy_20mgrid (geonode:niue_alofi_2005_bathy_20mgrid)

The SPC-Geoscience Division conducted a high-resolution bathymetric mapping survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Niue. Survey resulted in the acquisition of over 550 km of multibeam echosounder (MBES) data. A temporary tide gauge was also installed at the Alofi Wharf for the duration of the survey. The survey achieved 100 % coverage of the seafloor from approximately 50 m depth in then nearshore area to an average offshore distance of 5 km, reaching water depths of some 2000 m. Resultant data compilation was used to produce bathymetry charts. The datasets in ascii, tab delimiter, xyz files are available in this metadata entry and the charts are available as separate metadata entries here on the SOPAC Geonetwork site. This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU project ‘Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States’.

Post‐disaster image interpretation was conducted using satellite imagery made available by Digital Globe together with available obliques aerial photos from the Royal Australian Air Force is being used for the progressive production of damage assessment of affected villages. Data as a result of the imagery interpretation is then consolidated showing the status of structures per village. This record holds a bathymetry dataset of a nearshore area from Avarua to Avatiu harbour, Rorotonga in the Cook Islands . This operation was undertaken for the CCOP/SOPAC Work Programme CCSP/CK.8 "Feasibility studies for Harnessing Wave Energy for Rarotonga funded by the Goverment of Norway. As part of a wave energy study program in the South Pacific the Norwegian Goverment also supplied CCOP/SOPAC with Waverider Buoys for installation in several locations in the CCOP/SOPAC area . The result of the survey are datasets of the wave rider buoy (wave site) area and the Avarua to Avatiu harbour offshore dataset. that was extracted from a complete rarotonga nearshore mutibeam bathymetry survey which was done for the Australian goverment's overseas aid program and further processed for the two particular study area. Dataset was collected using an Echotrac single beam 200-kHz sounder with DGPS for navigation, control based on UTM Zone 4 WGS84 Spheroid. For tide corrections, data retrieved from the gauge sited in Avatiu Harbour was used to reduce all soundings for the harbours surveyed on Rarotonga. All data has been reduced to tide gauge zero with is reported to be 0.02 m above Lowest Astronomical Tide 92-93 as established by the National Tidal Facility Project. These dataset is held at the Secretariat on behalf of the Cook Islands Government. Dataset can be downloaded from the appropriate link with appropriate permission from the Secretariat. Bathymetric maps of the four harbours in the Cook Islands, For the Arutanga Harbour, Aitutaki, tidal reduction of soundings was based on measured data from a triton water level gauge.

This record holds the bathymetry dataset of the of Upolu and Savai'i Samoa. The datasets is the result of the multibeam bathymetry survey that was undertaken by the Applied Geoscience and Technology Division (SOPAC) of SPC around the South Eastern point of Upolu and Savai for the EU-SOPAC Samoa Survey. This is a 70m grid file of the entire bathymetry of Western Samoa including Savaii and Upolu islands. High-resolution bathymetric mapping survey was carried out ,resulting in the acquisition of over 2754 line-km of MBES data for the whole of Samoa Survey. The entire survey achieved 100% coverage of the seafloor from approximately 50 m depth in the near-shore area to an average offshore distance of 10 km, reaching water depths of some 1500 m. The resultant data compilation was also used to produce XYZ datasets and the chart available from a separate record . This record holds a set of point GIS layers that represents status of buildings in Nakorovou Village, Vanua Levu Island after the post disaster building assessment conducted by SPC-Geoscience. Post‐disaster image interpretation was conducted using satellite imagery made available by Digital Globe together with available obliques aerial photos from the Royal Australian Air Force is being used for the progressive production of damage assessment of affected villages. Data as a result of the imagery interpretation is then consolidated showing the status of structures per village. This was conducted as part of the Post-Assessment work by SPC for the Tropical Cyclone Winston. Building Status is categorized into 5 types: DAM - damaged, DES - destroyed, INT- intact, MIS - missing, NEW - new.

The survey was a component of the Project entitled “A Geospatial Framework for Climate Change Adaptation in the Coastal Zone of Mangaia”. The survey was carried out using a single beam echosounder (SBES) over a period of three weeks in January and February 2011. Good SBES data were obtained in the area seaward of the reef crest to an average distance of 1.0 km offshore, reaching water depths of some 200 m in front of the Airport.

This records holds a bathymetry dataset of the entire lagoon of Penrhyn Atoll in the Cook Islands, collected in a multibeam survey conducted by the Secretariat on behalf of the Marine Resources Department. A three weeks mapping project primarily funded through New Zealand’s bilateral assistance to the Cook Islands, and its ongoing support of strengthening the multibeam mapping capacity of SOPAC . A 200m east to west line spacing along the entire length of the lagoon was surveyed, completely covering the entire lagoon. The resultant datasets are available for download here with appropriate permission from the Secretariats country point of contact in the Cook Islands.

This record holds the bathymetry dataset of the South Eastern foreshore areas of Upolu and Savai'i Samoa. The datasets is the result of the multibeam bathymetry survey that was undertaken by the Applied Geoscience and Technology Division (SOPAC) of SPC around the South Eastern point of Upolu and Savai for the EU-SOPAC Samoa Survey. This is a 70m grid file of the entire bathymetry of Western Samoa including Savaii and Upolu islands. High-resolution bathymetric mapping survey was carried out ,resulting in the acquisition of over 2754 line-km of MBES data for the whole of Samoa Survey. The entire survey achieved 100% coverage of the seafloor from approximately 50 m depth in the near-shore area to an average offshore distance of 10 km, reaching water depths of some 1500 m. The resultant data compilation was also used to produce XYZ datasets and the chart available from a separate record . This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States Project (Task no.: NR 1.1.1). This can be downloaded from this record under the Distribution Info section with appropriate permission from the Secretariat.

This record holds a bathymetry data of a sinhole in Penrhyn Atoll collected from a multibeam survey conducted of the entire lagoon of Penrhyn Atoll, Cook Islands, on behalf of the Marine Resources Department. A three weeks mapping project primarily funded through New Zealand’s bilateral assistance to the Cook Islands, and its ongoing support of strengthening the multibeam mapping capacity . A 200m east to west line spacing along the entire length of the lagoon was surveyed, completely covering the entire lagoon.

Nauru, 2004, Bathymetry (geonode:nr_nauru_2004_bathymetry_points)

This record holds a high-resolution bathymetric data that was collected from SPC-GEoscience mapping survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Nauru in 2004. The survey achieved 100 % coverage of the sea floor from approximately 50 m depth in the nearshore area to an average offshore distance of 3 km, reaching water depths of some 1800 m. A review of external sources of available bathymetry was also undertaken, and the survey data was supplemented with publicly available data for Nauru EEZ. The resultant data compilation was used to produce a bathymetry chart of Nauru at 1:25 000. The resultant datasets are available for download with appropriate approval. The charts and related reports are available as separate metadata entries here on the SOPAC Geonetwork site. This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States Project.

Record specifically holds bathymetry data collected for the entire lagoon of Manahiki Lagoon. DGPS was used for navigational control and using Hypack surveying software for planning and logging of the sea floor. .Approximately 200 pearl farms/ boundaries was surveyed using a differential Global Positioning System (GPS) of their location and boundaries and individual data of farms tabulated and linked to Map Info using Microsoft Access. This record holds a bathymetry of the offshore at Oneroa Village in Mangaia Island, Cook Islands. The survey was a component of the Project entitled “A Geospatial Framework for Climate Change Adaptation in the Coastal Zone of Mangaia”. The survey was carried out using a single beam echosounder (SBES) over a period of three weeks in January and February 2011. Good SBES data were obtained in the area seaward of the reef crest to an average distance of 1.0 km offshore, reaching water depths of some 200 m in front of the Oneroa Village.

niue_alofi_2005_bathy_50mgrid (geonode:niue_alofi_2005_bathy_50mgrid)

The SPC, Geoscience Division conducted a high-resolution bathymetric mapping survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Niue. Survey resulted in the acquisition of over 550 km of multibeam echosounder (MBES) data. A temporary tide gauge was also installed at the Alofi Wharf for the duration of the survey. The survey achieved 100 % coverage of the seafloor from approximately 50 m depth in then nearshore area to an average offshore distance of 5 km, reaching water depths of some 2000 m. Resultant data compilation was used to produce bathymetry charts. The datasets in ascii, tab delimiter, xyz files are available in this metadata entry and the charts are available as separate metadata entries here on the SOPAC Geonetwork site. This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU project ‘Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States’.

This record holds part of the bathymetry data collected in 2002 using a multi beam swath mapping sounder, which mapped throughout the lagoon and offshore of Manahiki . Record specifically holds data collected for Apaii Pearl Farm. DGPS was used for navigational control and using Hypack surveying software for planning and logging of the sea floor. .Approximately 200 pearl farms/ boundaries was surveyed using a differential Global Positioning System (GPS) of their location and boundaries and individual data of farms tabulated and linked to Map Info using Microsoft Access. This record holds a set of point GIS layers that represents status of buildings in Queen Victoria School compound, Tailevu, Viti Levu Island after the post disaster building assessment conducted by SPC-Geoscience. Post‐disaster image interpretation was conducted using satellite imagery made available by Digital Globe together with available obliques aerial photos from the Royal Australian Air Force is being used for the progressive production of damage assessment of affected villages. Data as a result of the imagery interpretation is then consolidated showing the status of structures per village. This was conducted as part of the Post-Assessment work by SPC for the Tropical Cyclone Winston. This record holds a bathymetry data of the shoreline area and around the reef areas in Penrhyn Atoll collected from a multibeam survey conducted, on behalf of the Marine Resources Department. A three weeks mapping project primarily funded through New Zealand’s bilateral assistance to the Cook Islands, and its ongoing support of strengthening the multibeam mapping capacity . A 200m east to west line spacing along the entire length of the lagoon was surveyed, completely covering the entire lagoon.
